After three years of innovation, the RoBétArmé project is reaching its conclusion , and we are proud to showcase the major breakthroughs achieved in human‑robot collaboration for construction, including advances in digitization, perception, mobility, and shotcrete automation.

The seventh edition of the RoBétArmé Newsletter presents major project highlights from the past months, including updates from the Alpine and Dublin pilot tests, where both the Inspection Reconnaissance Robot (IRR) and the Shotcrete and Finishing Robot (SFR) were successfully demonstrated in real underground environments. The newsletter also introduces a newly published CEN Workshop Agreement on collaborative robotics for concrete spraying operations, an important step toward safer, more automated construction workflows.
Readers will also find information on the project review meeting and upcoming events, including the Final Conference and RoBétArmé’s participation in the European Robotics Forum 2026.

The RoBétArmé project was featured during Hannover 2025, one of the world’s largest trade fairs focused on industrial development. From March 31st to April 4th, the consortium had the opportunity to present the results of the RoBétArmé project to a vast audience, showcasing the latest advancements, including:
– A demonstration of the Robotnik & RB-VOGUI mobile robot platform for the RoBétArmé Inspection and Reconnaissance Robot (IRR)
– A presentation of the RoBétArmé Digital Twin system
– The RoBétArmé Standardization Toolkit
– Collection of feedback regarding the RoBétArmé system
– Information from the TECH4EuConstruction cluster
This year, DISCOVER Horizon also joined the organisation.

On the 27 of March, Dr. Dimitris Giakoumis, the RoBétArmé Coordinator, from the , participated in the “Application of Robotics in Efficient and Sustainable Construction and Deconstruction” workshop at the European Robotics Forum 2025! For the third year in a row, this workshop was organised in collaboration with our sister projects: BEEYONDERS, HumanTech. This year, DISCOVER Horizon also joined the organisation.

Last week, the RoBétArmé Project Horizon Europe consortium gathered in Glostrup, Denmark, for the 1st Integration Meeting, hosted by Christiansen & Essenbæk A/S! This productive week was filled with collaboration as we worked to integrate the Inspection-Reconnaissance Mobile Manipulator (IRR robot), bringing together cutting-edge systems developed over the last two years. We also conducted the initial experimental tests on the newly constructed testbed. Additionally, three engaging technical workshops were held, focusing on user involvement, learning resources, and understanding user requirements.

The RoBétArmé team recently convened its 5th Plenary Meeting from June 18th to 20th in Lausanne, Switzerland. This three-day gathering was characterized by intensive collaborative work, and the exchange of insights regarding our progress, challenges, and forthcoming initiatives. During the meeting, we reviewed our most important milestones, agreed on our main objectives for the next period, and even got to see demonstrations of the technologies developed.
